Counselling – Therapy which Directs and Rejuvenates

Looking after your mind is as important as looking after your body. But sometimes people find themself stuck mentally, even though there are solutions but they are unable to see through. At such times, Counseling helps you to connect with your psyche and maintain a balance between your thoughts and actions and provides a clear vision to sail through problems and pave a path to success.

Counselling is a process of discovering yourself and identifying what’s your ‘Cup of Tea’ and what’s not. It aids in framing your ambitions and desires and developing the right mindset for implementing and bringing them to life. Counselling rejuvenates you and aids in your overall wellbeing, mostly without taking any kind of harmful pills or side effects producing anti-depressants.

There are different types of counselling techniques and their application varies based on the specific situation and the problem of the client. For instance, there is a different kind of counselling for children struggling with behavioural problems, hyperactivity or ADHD etc. and a different kind of counselling for adults having psychological issues like aggression and panic attacks, depression, relationship conflicts etc.

Types of Counselling:
  • Behavioural Counselling
  • Humanistic Counselling
  • Cognitive Counselling
  • Constructionist Counselling
  • Systemic Counselling
  • Marriage and Family Counselling
But the important question is, how does one identify that he/she needs a therapist? This is not only one's personal outlook towards opting to reach out to a counsellor but also a responsibility as a family member to ask their loved ones to consult a counsellor if they see them getting stuck up and going directionless.  Listed below are a few signs or indications which help to assess that one might need a professional counsellor's help:
  • No control over emotions like anger or over happy outbursts.
  • Low performance at the workplace and feeling lost or directionless
  • Relationship conflicts
  • Ill health and physical drain
  • Grief or Sudden trauma
  • Mental health issues

There is still one misconception about counselling is that if someone is taking a counselling session, he or she always has some mental trouble or psychological issue, but it's not true. Perfectly sane people may also need counselling at some or other points in time due to difficult situations and life circumstances. Infect these days people in all good health also opt for counsellors just to redirect and clear up their outlook towards things.

Many times, Counselling can be a  turning point in bringing up resilience in a person or a group because a Counsellor is a person who does not judge you for anything you say, they deeply try to understand the psychological process behind each saying. Sometimes this kind of open and full expression of all your mental process helps to relax the client to the utmost and there is no fear of being judged or criticized. This can be mentally soothing and feel light at every level.

Counselling inculcates a positive sense of well-being and helps build one’s ability to bounce back from tough situations. Basically, counselling is a ‘TALK THERAPY which interacts with the drives and forces within you and heals you without any harsh medications.
